[Sep 2021] Discord Monthly Update
Hiya folks! It’s a-me, Karina, back with the next DMU. September is here which means goodbye summer and hello fall 🍂 There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes and I can’t wait to share all of our updates with you, so let’s jump to it.
Updates
Community events
As we mentioned in our last DMU, we’ve got a list of community events this month! You can sign up for each event in #📣│event-announcements and we’ll continue to add more events as they’re finalized. Join in and get to know the Mod Squad while meeting other members in our lovely community. Here are the events this month:
Sep 4th 6-9pm ET - Among Us with Amanda (Pearlprincess1)
Sep 12th 3-4pm ET - Jackbox with Jackie (BeanieQueen)
Sep 17th 8-9pm ET - Gartic Phone/Fortnite (Among Us mode) with Aiyana (Liltemptress) and Neon
Sep 18th 9-11pm ET - TGH House Party (community-wide event)
Sep 21st 7-9pm ET - Skribbl.io and Splitgate with Karina (MLKween)
channel clean up
As suggested from the community, the team did a big ol’ summer channel clean up with our server. Here are all of the changes that we hope to implement on September 15:
The following channels will be removed:

#💸│game-deals, #⌨│mmorpg-moba, #⛏│minecraft, #⌚│overwatch (merge into #🎮│gaming-general)

#🧸│wholesome (content can be distributed to other channels)
#📝│peer-review, #🌐│mentorship-connect (merge into #❓︱career-general)
#💻│tech-help, #🔧│tools-software (merge into #💻│tech)
Additional changes to channels:
#💻│tech-share will change into #💻│tech
#✨│daily-affirmation and #🌺│daily-achievement will merge into one channel (new channel name TBD)
#📖│reading and #📺│movies-and-tv will merge into one channel: #🎭 | literature-and-film
#🎨│art, #🍳│food, and #🧺│cosplay will merge into one channel: #❤️ | passion
#📟│promotion-feed will move into the Sharing Center
We've decided to keep all of the emojis for the individual channels but will remove one of the emojis from each category name instead to reduce the overall number of emojis. We want to be as transparent as possible with our community. So, before these changes are implemented, please let us know your thoughts in #💬│general-lounge!
mod squad recruitment
We’re looking for more gameHERs to join the Mod Squad! Our community is growing larger and larger by the day and we need some more helping hands. If you’re passionate about TGH, what we stand for, and want to contribute more to the community—then we’re looking for you!
We’re currently seeking volunteer Junior Moderators and Moderators, the application deadline for both roles will close September 10 at 11:59pm ET. Fill out the application form or share this opportunity with someone who you think would be a perfect fit. If you have any questions about being a moderator for TGH or about the application process, feel free to send us a message through ModMail or ping me @MLKween#6229.
tgh awards
Thank you for all of your submissions, we’re completely blown away! While the team is crunching the numbers behind the scenes, we’re going to be organizing lead-up shows to the Awards. More information about the lead-up shows will be posted soon! Having said that, we’re looking for Twitch moderators for the TGH Awards! This is a paid opportunity and if you’re interested, please send a message to us through ModMail.
FemaLED Concert & Tournament
Reminder that this tournament and concert will be happening on September 3! We’re still looking for teams to represent TGH at the tournament which will be 3-person teams in COD Warfare. If you want to register your team, please send a message to us through ModMail to receive the private registration link!

Members have expressed that our server has too many channels. We’ve just finished the process of narrowing down the number of channels and we’re not currently open to creating new channels, however we’re open to revisiting this later down the road when we’re looking to expand channels.

As with Suggestion #20, we’re looking to downsize our channels.
