the*gameHERs App Now Available on the App Store and Google Play Store

Designed by and Created for the Vibrant Community of Women In Gaming as a Safe Space to Meet, Chat, and Play

(November 29th, 2021 - New York, NY) Creating safe and dynamic spaces for women in the gaming community to connect and thrive has been the*gameHERS mission since the four co-founders launched the company, just two years ago.  Building an app was not part of their original goals, but the pandemic and rapid growth of the community spurred them into action. The app was conceived in March 2021, developed throughout the spring with beta testing launched late summer, and now in under a year, available for mobile download for iOS in the App Store and for Android in the Google Play Store.

Early indications are proving the value of the app, as one beta user, Destiny commented, “I’ve come to the conclusion that this is about to take over gaming social media norms! Everyone is so sweet and kind. It’s like one big happy family."

The*gameHERs app allows users to connect similar to a social networking platform. Once downloaded, users are first prompted to agree to the community ethos; “Be respectful.  Be a badass, not an ass.  Be you, be kind.”  Next, the user is shown the golden rule, no harassment of any kind is allowed.  A team of Ambassadors, made up of app users selected by the*gameHERs are on the app actively welcoming and promoting positivity to new users, modeling the behavior they expect from the community.  To further foster a safe space, users must be over the age of 17 and register with a phone number, however, anyone who accepts the terms of use and supports the mission is welcome.

Once in the app, users interact through online groups geared toward both gaming and general interest topics; Wellness, Fashion, and Beauty, Culinary Corner, Pet Corner. The “Play Now” section allows gamers to post a game they want to play and request players to join them to play in real-time. The “Events” section posts virtual events hosted by the*gameHERs on a wide range of topics by exceptional women in gaming and experts in the gaming industry. December events include; “Starting a Career in Streaming”, and “The Story Behind Pokemon” among others, with many already having 50+ users confirming their interest and attendance.

“We are thrilled to launch our app and create an even more accessible space where women, femme-identifying gamers, and non-binary gamers who are comfortable in spaces that center women can feel safe and welcome,” said Laura Deutsch, Co-Founder of the*gameHERs. “Watching our community grow and connect live on the app is so rewarding!”

“This is a groundbreaking day in the world of gaming,” said Todd Zander, Product Consultant at the*gameHERs. “Finally, through our beta test, we were able to see the excitement and the innovative ways women are connecting on the app, all being so supportive, seeing the kind and welcoming interactions is beyond meeting our expectations.”

“The opportunity to partner with the*gameHERs team in building an app that both empowers and connects women around the world has been a unique and gratifying experience,” said Sara Melo, Chief Architect at Oxit.

As an active ambassador, Essence D has had the opportunity to see her input put into action as the app was developed. “As an ambassador for the*gameHERs app, I feel heard. So many of the suggestions that ambassadors have made have been implemented into the app's features! I love that  we make an impact on the app.”

Fellow ambassador Lori S added, “The GameHERS app and community provides a healthy, supportive, and tangible environment where we as women can engage with each other to learn, share, and have fun. I’m grateful for this community!”

To further foster a safe space, users must be over the age of 17 and register with a phone number.  Anyone who accepts the terms of use and supports the mission is welcome.
